 ROUND 1: MMA IN NEW YORK GIVEN ENOUGH VOTES TO MOVE PAST ASSEMBLY COMMITTEE
On June 3, 2009, in the Assembly Committee Room on Tourism, Parks, Arts
and Sports Development, a vote was taken to see if the ‘Mixed Martial Arts
Bill’ would pass Committee. The small Committee Room in the Legislative
Office Building in New York, was packed with observers and media. The 21
members of the Committee sat at long conference table set in the middle
of the narrow room. With two items on the agenda, it was clear that the

 "ASYLUM FIGHT LEAGUE" SCORES BIG WITH OUTDOOR EVENT UNDER THE
BIG TENT IN NEW JERSEY
On May 9, 2009, USKBA Action Sports Promoter Carl Mascarenhas (Asylum Fight League) continued to offer his regularly scheduled “ASYLUM FIGHT LEAGUE” Amateur MMA events with an outdoor event at Shady Katie’s in Somerdale,
New Jersey. As luck would have it, the day turned out to be a beautiful
sunny day. As luck would have it, Promoter Mascarenhas played this event
like a chess game. Instead of having the fighters fight with the sun blaring
down on the cage flooring (not to mention on the fighters themselves),
Promoter Mascarenhas had the entire cage covered by a tent. Good move ...

 KICKBOXING RETURNED TO THE OCEANA IN BROOKLYN WITH MANY TALENTED FIGHTERS AND VIPS
USKBA Action Sports Promoter Gene Fabrikant returned to the newly refurbished Oceana in Brooklyn, New York with "THE US OPEN KICKBOXING CHAMPIONSHIPS". On April 26, 2009, Promoter Fabrikant brought a new type of event to the awesome venue. This time, the fightcard was filled with amateur fighters showcasing their K-1 style rules talent.  PACKED HOUSE SEES "KICKBOXING CHALLENGE 8" AND KICKBOXING CHALLENGE
EASTCOAST CHAMPIONSHIPS
USKBA Action Sports Promoter John Carlo (USA Karate) held the eighth installment of his “KICKBOXING CHALLENGE” Amateur Kickboxing series on April 18, 2009 at the Patterson Recreation Center in Patterson, New York. On a regular basis, Promoter Carlo holds events that feature exhibition bouts showcasing up and coming amateur fighters. However, “KICKBOXING CHALLENGE 8” proved to be different. "KICKBOXING CHALLENGE 8” featured the usual exhibition bouts, but headlined by scored bouts for the Kickboxing Challenge Eastcoast Championships.  3,000 FANS PACK THE TROPICANA SHOWROOM TO SEE LOU NEGLIA'S "RING OF COMBAT XXIV" IN ATLANTIC CITY
USKBA Action Sports Promoter Louis Neglia (Ring of Combat) offered the 24th installment of his Ring of Combat Professional MMA series. It was an offer one couldn’t refuse.  ANOTHER SOLD OUT AMATEUR MMA EVENT AS "NEW BREED FIGHTERS XXI"
DELIVERS AT THE SUPERSTAR THEATER
It looks like USKBA Promoter R. Scott Morgan (New Breed Fighters) and Resorts Hotel and Casino have combined ingredients and come up with a solid recipe. On April 11, 2009, Promoter Morgan held his “NEW BREED FIGHTERS XXI” Amateur MMA event in the Superstar Theater of Resorts.
Although this was the 21st installment of the popular New Breed Fighters series, it was the second time it was being held at this venue. The first
time, the event was sold out. This time, it was no different. Another sold

On March 28, 2009, Muay Thai fight fans were treated to a glimpse into
the future of Muay Thai in America. USKBA Action Sports Promoter Derek Riddick (Weapons 9) hosted “THE WARRIORS CUP VI” in New Brunswick, New Jersey. This was the sixth installment of his ever popular “The Warriors Cup” Amateur Muay Thai series. “THE WARRIORS CUP VI” featured 14 amateur bouts showcasing fighters making their debuts and
fighters with more experience in Muay Thai fights. With an assortment of

On March 7, 2009, a capacity crowd filled the Superstar Theater at Resorts
Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The filled theater did not
come to see a music headliner or comedian. They came to see the first Amateur
MMA event at that venue…USKBA Promoter R. Scott Morgan’s “NEW BREED FIGHTERS XX”. Although it was the first “NEW BREED FIGHTERS” event at Resorts Hotel and Casino, it was the 20th installment of this

On February 20, 2009, the Tropicana Showroom, in Atlantic City NJ, was packed with MMA fans that came to see “RING OF COMBAT XXIII” presented by USKBA Action Sports Promoter Louis Neglia. The sellout crowd, estimated at over 3,000, witnessed a full card of
non-stop Professional MMA action. With submissions, KO’s and decisions,
there must have been ‘something for everyone’. The fightcard contained
many Amateur MMA fighters making their Professional debuts.
