Voorhees, NJ – On Saturday, June 21, 2008, Asylum Fight League will host an action packed night of Mixed Martial Arts bouts to support breast cancer awareness. Doors open at 6 pm and the event will begin at 7 pm at the Virtua Health Flyers Skate Zone at Voorhees. “Asylum Fight League III Fight Against Breast Cancer” presented by Carl Mascarenhas is dedicated in loving Memory of Rosemarie Thomas who passed away from breast cancer on 12/09/06. Christopher Thomas, a member of the Asylum Fight League, approached Carl Mascarenhas about dedicating an event to the memory of his mother and educating the community about the importance of early detection. A portion of the proceeds from internet ticket sales and web simulcasts will benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Central and South Jersey. “Breast cancer knows no boundries. Though this type of benefit is not typical for Komen, we appreciate the support of the fight league. I am touched by Chris’ intentions to honor his mother’s memory and help the community. This event is a unique way for Komen to reach a new audience and help promote early breast cancer detection,” stated Nancy Healey, Executive Director of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Central and South Jersey Affiliate. Asylum Fight League is an amateur fight league created by Fighters, for Fighters. A competitive atmosphere designed to develop individuals that want to enter into the arena of MMA competition. To provide the vehicle for those fighters who want to test their skills against the best regional fighters in their weight class and show the results of all the hours of training, that no one else see’s.
