RULES AND EQUIPMENT
WEIGHT CLASSES

USKBA ACTION SPORTS weight classes will be used. Fighters will be allowed to fight up one weight division. Maximum weight difference between two fighters will be the combination of two adjacent weight divisions.
 

MEN'S DIVISIONS
- Flyweight (111.9 lbs. and below) 
- Bantamweight(112-117.9 lbs.)
- Super Bantamweight (118-121.9 lbs.)
- Featherweight(122-125.9 lbs.)
- Super Featherweight (126-129.9 lbs.) 
- Lightweight(130-134.9 lbs.)
- Super Lightweight (135-139.9 lbs.) 
- Welterweight (140-146.9 lbs.)
- Super Welterweight (147-153.9 lbs.)
- Middleweight (154-159.9 lbs.) 
- Super Middleweight (160-166.9 lbs.) 
- Light Heavyweight (167-174.9 lbs.)
- Super Lt Heavyweight (175-182.9 lbs.)
- Cruiserweight (183-189.9 lbs.)
- Super Cruiserweight (190-194.9 lbs.)
- Heavyweight (195-209.9 lbs.)
- Super Heavyweight (210-249.9 lbs.)
- Absolute (250 lbs and above)
WOMEN'S DIVISIONS
- Flyweight (104.9 lbs. and below)

* Where State Athletic Commissions regulate Amateur MMA, their established Weight Divisions may be used


ROUNDS

USKBA ACTION SPORTS Amateur MMA bouts will consist of three 3-minute rounds with a one minute rest period in between rounds.

· Mouthguard
· Open finger gloves (minimum 7 oz.)
· Groin protection (male and female)
· Shin pads
· Instep pads
· Breast protection (female)

LEGAL TECHNIQUES WHILE STANDING
· Closed hand strikes to head and body
· Kicking techniques (not to head)
· Knees to body and legs
· Throws/Takedowns/Sweeps
· Standing Submissions
· Chokes
· Armbars
- Slamming (not on head or neck)
· Shouldering

LEGAL TECHNIQUES WHILE ON THE GROUND
· Closed hand strikes to body and legs 
-  Kicks and knees to body and legs
· Submissions (chokes, armbars, straight leg locks ONLY)

ILLEGAL TECHNIQUES WHILE STANDING
· Elbows 
· Knees to head
· Kicks to head and knees
· Stomps on feet
· Groin strikes
· Hitting back of head
· Spine strikes
· Throws onto head or neck
· Throws against a joint
· Throwing out of competition area
· Neck cranks
· Holding ropes
- Slamming on head or neck
· Pinching, biting, gouging, and any “dirty fighting”

ILLEGAL TECHNIQUES WHILE ON GROUND
· Any striking to head 
· Elbows 
· Neck cranks
· Heel hooks
· Finger locks
· Toe locks
· Choking with hand on throat
· Smothering (hand over mouth)
· Spine locks
· Hammer locks
· Fish hooks
· Groin strikes
· Spine strikes
· Slamming
· Throwing out of competition area
· Pinching, biting, gouging, and any “dirty fighting”


ADDITIONAL ITEMS

· If punch or kick causes a knockdown, the action will NOT continue. The standing fighter will not continue to attack. Instead, the referee will begin a 10 count. The standing fighter must go to a neutral corner during the count.
· No Vaseline on the body.
- No shoes.
- No metal zipper.s
- No shirts (females excluded).
- ALL fighters must be affiliated with studio.


NEW JERSEY
In order to compete in USKBA Amateur MMA in New Jersey, you must provide the following:

The completed "NJSACB Amateur MMA Physical Form" from a physician (dated within 45 days of event) that you have taken a physical and that you are healthy to compete click here
