Tournament Format / Competition for Men, Women and Children

Registration Fees:

$30 - Pre Registration - must be postmarked by July 31, 2006. 
$35 - Registration - must be postmarked between August 1 & August 29, 2006 (DO NOT MAIL after August 30, 2006) 
$40 - Late Registration

GENERAL

1. All contestants must wear a complete uniform, or a uniform that is relative to your martial arts system.
2. Improper conduct or disrespect by a contestant or his/her supporters will not be tolerated and will be grounds for DISQUALIFICATION.
3. Referees and Judges are asked not to judge their own students. If circumstances permit, a replacement will be appointed by the Chielf Referee or the Tournament Director.

FORMS / WEAPONS

1. The Chief Referee will explain to the contestants the proper protocol for the events.
a. Come forward when your name is called and report to the designated spot.
b. Show courtesy and respect to the Judges.
c. Clearly announce your own name, martial arts style, and form you will perform.
d. Upon completion, remain in the ring until the score of the Judges is given, then leave the ring.
2. In Forms Competition, the contestant will be judged on his/her execution of technique balance, speed, power, solid stance and focus.
3. Judges will score from one (1) to ten (10) points with half points allowed.
4. The score will be counted by dropping the high and low scores of all the judges.
5. In a case of a tie, the contestants will be asked to perform another Form until the tie is broken.
6. If a contestant blanks out, or forgets his/her Form, they will be given a second chance to perform. If another mistake occurs, he/she will be disqualified from the ring.
7. The same rule will apply to any contestant who drops his/her weapon during their performance.

FIGHTING

1. The following protective gear is mandatory:
a. Headgear
b. Handgear
c. Footgear
d. Groin Cup
e. Mouthpiece.
2. All matches will consist of 1 two-minute round with the person scoring 5 points first winning the match. If time expires, the person with the higher score wins. In case of a tie, the sudden death rule will go into effect. The person scoring the first point will win the match.
3. The Grand Championship match in the Black Belt Division will consist of 2 two-minute rounds, with the person that has the higher score winning the Championship Belt.
4. Contestants will line up according to height in their proper division. The Chief Coordinator, or Referee, will arrange the bouts so that a contestant is not paired off with another member of the same school or team.
5. LEGAL TECHNIQUES (Allowed):
a. Hand Techniques – straight punches, back fists, hammer fists, ridgehands and chops.
b. Kicking Techniques – front kicks, roundhouse kicks,side kicks, crescent kicks, ax kicks, hook kicks, spinning back kicks and all jumping kicks.
6. ILLEGAL TARGETS and TECHNIQUES (Not Allowed):
a. Back of the head, back of the neck, eyes, throat, spine, groin and kidneys.
b. Head butting, joint breaking, locking techniques, or any open hand techniques to the facial area.
c. Holding, wrestling, throwing, sweeping, grabbing, or any blind spinning techniques.
7. CONTACT RULES:
a. There will be light controlled contact in all Underbelt and Black Belt Divisions.
b. Any contact that is ruled accidental by the Judges or Referee, will result in a warning. A third warning will be grounds for disqualification.
c. Any intentional or malicious contact, or drawing of blood, will result in an automatic disqualification.
