RESULTS ARE IN FROM 'GENESIS RANKED' SUBMISSION GRAPPLING TOURNAMENT AT "NJ STATE OPEN CHALLENGE" USKBA ACTION SPORTS Promoter Ed Hsu (GHK Promotions) and USKBA ACTION SPORTS Referee Jerry Mendez joined forces to present a Submission Grappling Tournament at the "NJ STATE OPEN CHALLENGE" on December 2, 2006. The action took place at the Rahway Recreation Center in Rahway, New Jersey. This was the first event to be a USKBA Submission Grappling "GENESIS RANKED" Event. All competitors will be "GENESIS RANKED" and the listings will appear in a newly created Submission Grappling section of our website. The USKBA Submission Grappling "GENESIS RANKINGS" will be posted shortly on our website. The turnout for the Submission Grappling Tournament at the "NJ STATE OPEN CHALLENGE" was great. The level of comeptition was terrific. The SuperFights were outstanding. Our hats are off to the promoters and all the competitors... male, female, adult and kids. In New Jersey, Professional fighters can enter the competition at non-striking Submission Grappling tournaments and events. It was great to see so many Professional MMA fighters going back to their roots of Grappling. Professional MMA Champion DANTE RIVERA looked impressive as he moved through the matches to take First Place in the 185 lb and over No Gi Open Division. USKBA Certified Official TOM VELASQUEZ traded in his Official's garb to compete in that division and impressively take Second Place. Most notable in the division was the hard fought battle between CARMINE ZOCCHI and NICHOLAS CAGGIA. By the end of the day, it was quite evident that most competitors and spectators were looking forward to the next USKBA Submission Grappling "GENESIS RANKED" Event. The results are as follows:
Additional pictures and "GENESIS RANKINGS" to be posted shortly. Stay tuned for the next USKBA Submission Grappling "GENESIS RANKED" Tournament. Don't miss it! |

"Saturday, December 16 will see America’s fastest growing sport come to Southern New Jersey, as “Chaos Has Been Released” hits Eastern High School with a 13 bout Mixed Martial Arts fight card featuring many top local amateur fighters. NEW JERSEY SAYS 'ENOUGH' TO MMA MISCONCEPTIONS AND SETS THE RECORD STRAIGHT Athletic Control Board (NJSACB) General Counsel Nick Lembo (see photo on right...left to right; General Counsel Nick Lembo, Commissioner
Larry Hazzard Sr., Inspector Tyrone Smith) has set out on correcting misconceptions that are being reported in newspapers, magazines and websites concerning the rules and Athletic Commissions' sanctioning of Mixed Martial Arts. The latest being a "60 Minutes" segment on the UFC and MMA.Rather than post the transcript of the recent interview that Eddie Goldman (No Holds Barred podcast) conducted with Nick Lembo, you can hear the interview for yourself by clicking HERE. In the interview, Mr. Lembo discusses Amateur MMA in New Jersey and how successful it has been. So there are no misconceptions, the main reason that USKBA Amateur MMA is thriving is due to the efforts of Commissioner Larry Hazzard Sr., General Counsel Nick Lembo, Sylvester Cuyler and everyone at the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board. They had the foresight to believe in a 'true level' of Amateur MMA that provides for the safety and fairness of Amateur MMA competition. Although USKBA Amateur MMA held it's first event in another State, that State has since established its own rules for Amateur MMA and will not allow USKBA Amateur MMA rules there. Thanks to the NJSACB, USKBA Amateur MMA rules are now being used at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut and in the State of Delaware. We now have plans to begin events in additional States in 2007. Let's all give credit to the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board. |

RESULTS FROM "NJ STATE OPEN CHALLENGE" SUBMISSION GRAPPLING TOURNAMENT TO BE POSTED BY MONDAY We have received many inquiries about the results of the USKBA ACTION SPORTS Promoter Ed Hsu's "NJ STATE OPEN CHALLENGE" Submission Grappling Tournament, run by Jerry Mendez on December 2, 2006 in Rahway, New Jersey. Since this event was "GENESIS RANKED", we are finishing the auditing process of the results. Everyone who competes in a "GENESIS RANKED" event, is awarded points based on the number of matches and the results.
These 'points' establish our rankings and enable us to determine the competitors
who receive the most amount of 'points' during the season. We'll be talking
more about this in the special web section that we are creating for all
USKBA Submission Grappling "GENESIS RANKED" and Sanctioned Events. We are scheduling the posting of the results by Monday, December 11th.
