"RUMBLE IN ROCHESTER 6" FILLED WITH TOP NOTCH AMATEUR KICKBOXING BOUTS

USKBA ACTION SPORTS Promoter World Gym Rochester returned to the kickboxing promotion business with the sixth installment of the "RUMBLE IN ROCHESTER" series. This time, "RUMBLE IN ROCHESTER 6" took place at Hot Shots Indoor Volleyball on June 24, 2006. This marked the triumphant return of Amateur Full Contact Kickboxing to Rochester NY.

In kickboxing circles, Rochester NY is well know for being the home of USKBA Heavyweight World Champion Dan "The Lizard" Lucas. Unfortunately, due to the New York State Athletic Commission, the USKBA is not permitted to sanction Professional Martial Arts in New York, and thus prevents Dan Lucas from defending his title in his hometown. For this event, Dan had to be content with cornering his fighters and helping out with the 'promotion' duties. The matchmaking on this event was terrific as every fighter gave all that had in the ring. Although "RUMBLE IN ROCHESTER 6" featured the 'new generation' of Full Contact Kickboxers, the enthusiastic crowd thrilled to the 'special senior exhibition bout' between Ellwyn Roberts and Jim Louth. They made all of us proud to be in the sport of kickboxing.

USKBA Sanctioned Amateur Full Contact Kickboxing Results:
- Max Lanzieri def Matthew Roberts by unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-26).
- Jon Reeners and Steven Fiano fought to a majority draw (28-28, 28-28, 27-29).
- Jason Thompson def Russell Smith by unanimous decision (30-26, 29-28, 29-28).
- Russell Ellis def Miguel Caraballo by TKO at 1:18 of Round 2.
- Dan Ford def Bing Zhao by split decision (30-27, 29-28, 28-29).
- Kimberly Cicherillo def Krystle Volino by split decision (25-30, 29-28, 30-27).
- Rexford O'Corr def Ron Sember by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).
- Ellwyn Roberts and Jim Louth fought an exhibition.

Participating Studios; Mountain Storm, Cain's Taekwondo, Empire Academy, World Gym Rochester, Louth's Kickboxing & Self Defense. Referees; Ellwyn Roberts, Keith Nesbitt Sr. Judges; Keith Nesbitt Sr., John Cocca, David Anderson, Keith Nesbitt Jr. Scorekeepers; Sue Roberts, Christine Northrup. Timekeeper; Dennis Phillips. USKBA Rep in charge of weigh-ins and licensing; Christine Northrup.

NEW JERSEY BUDGET SIGNING NOT QUICK ENOUGH FOR "RING OF COMBAT XI" AT THE TROPICANA IN ATLANTIC CITY

It had the makings to be one of the best "RING OF COMBAT" events to date. Even Champion Laura D'Auguste's opponent had arrived from Japan. All the fighters were ready to go. All the fans were ready to go. The Tropicana was ready to go. The USKBA was ready to go. USKBA ACTION SPORTS Promoter World Champion Louis Neglia was ready to go. However, the show was a 'no go'.

"RING OF COMBAT XI" was scheduled for Friday, July 7, 2006 at The Tropicana in Atlantic City, New Jersey. On Thursday night, July 6th, the decision had to made whether to prepare The Showroom for the show, or not. The Tropicana needed to set up The Showroom. Even though it looked like the budget was going to be passed and signed, Governor Corzine said that it would take from "24 to 36 hours" to have everything signed, sealed and delivered. This meant the State employees, among them the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board, would not be able to return to work until everything was accomplished. The decision was made to cancel the show. In hindsight, this was the correct choice. The casinos did not open for business until Saturday morning, July 8th.

Normally one does not hear about the behind-the-scenes frantic situations before most of these events. But this time, something should be said about the hard work and rushing around that was done to try to make this event happen. This was not just for the thousands of fans who purchased tickets to "RING IF COMBAT XI", but for the fighters who trained hard and were ready to get into the ring. Promoter Louis Neglia constantly met with The Tropicana to see what could be done. Even Commissioner Larry Hazzard and General Counsel Nick Lembo, of the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board, had worked hard to get a crew of Officials that were ready to work the event. Unfortunately, it was beyond their control and the event had to be canceled.

As this cancellation was definitely a set back for Mixed Martial Arts, with the fighters that are in the New Jersey area, promoters like Louis Neglia and a Commission like the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board, New Jersey is still on course to being 'The Mecca of MMA'.

For information on the rescheduled "RING OF COMBAT XI", call 718-372-9089, or visit the Ring of Combat website at: www.ringofcombat.com.

The Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City is here to inform our customers that due to the fact a New Jersey Budget has not yet been approved, the Governor of New Jersey has mandated the CLOSURE OF ALL ATLANTIC CITY CASINO FLOORS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. Therefore, effective July 5th at 8:00 AM, Tropicana's gaming floors are closed until further notice.

Tropicana's hotel, restaurants, and shopping in The Quarter are open for business. This also includes the Tropicana Showroom entertainment venues and IMAX Theatre movies as well.

From USKBA ACTION SPORTS... As of the time of this posting (12:00 noon EST, Thursday, July 6, 2006), the fighters are arriving in Atlantic City and we are on our way down there. Governor John Corzine is in a meeting to discuss the status of the budget and the resumption of having State employees (both 'essential' and 'non-essential') report back to work. The employees of the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board (classified as 'non-essential'), have offered their services, without getting paid, in order for "RING OF COMBAT XI" to go on. This included the services of Commissioner Larry Hazzard and General Counsel Nick Lembo. Unfortunately, the answer from the State was 'no'. Governor Corzine has told the State Senate and Assembly to work out the issues by 'today'. In addition to 'working it out' by today, a motion has been brought to have the members of the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board be classified as 'essential' as thus will be able to work the event tomorrow. It looks like many things are being done to have this show go on!

"RING OF COMBAT XI" WILL GO ON AS THE TROPICANA HOTEL AND SHOWROOM IN ATLANTIC CITY REMAIN OPEN

USKBA ACTION SPORTS Promoter World Champion Louis Neglia has announced that his "RING OF COMBAT XI" Professional MMA event will go on this Friday, July 7, 2006 at The Tropicana in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The promoters of "RING OF COMBAT XI" have given everyone their assurance that although the casinos may be closed, the "SHOW WILL GO ON". Once we physically mail the Letter of Invitation, we will also email a copy of the Letter of Invitation to the requesting individual or club. If you have not submitted your Official Request for Letters of Invitation, visit our website at www.uskba.com/2006tournament.htm, and go into the Request for Letters of Invitation section. Official Letters of Invitation can only be produced after we receive your request through our website.

TOURNAMENT OFFICIALS

As we will be running SEVEN World Championship Tournaments at one time, the need for competent Officials (referees, judges, scorekeepers, timekeepers, tournament personnel) is of utmost importance. If you would like to volunteer, please contact the Tournament Coordinator(s) of the tournament(s) you would like to work with. We are making plans to hold USKBA Officials Certification classes on Friday, September 1, 2006 and Saturday morning, September 2, 2006.

TOURNAMENT EQUIPMENT

We are very proud to announce that Combat Sports International (www.combatsports.com) will be providing the Windy 12 oz Amateur gloves for our Full Contact Kickboxing, Thaiboxing, San Da and Continuous Contact Tournaments. Combat Sports International will also be providing the 7 oz Amateur MMA gloves and CSI shin/instep guards used in our Amateur MMA tournament. We have been using and testing their equipment for the past half year at our sanctioned events. The report on the current equipment we use is "excellent". If you don't already have a CSI catalog, please go to their website at www.combatsports.com and request one. You can also go to www.ringside.com and request their Summer Sale catalog. Not only will you see some great equipment, but you'll also see a half page advertisement on our USKBA ACTION SPORTS 2006 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS Amateur Tournaments. Let's support the companies that support our sports!
